Definition of Examiner

Officer or other person authorized to conduct an examination (e.g. bank examiner) or appointed by court to take testimony of witnesses.

An officer appointed by the court to take testimony in causes pending in that court; e.g. a master, auditor, referee.

An officer in the patent-office charged with the duty of examining the patentability of inventions for which patents are asked. See also Auditor; Inspector; Master; Referee.
