Definition of DIVIDE
To cut into parts, disunite, separate, keep apart. The term is synonymous with distribute. Watters v. First Nat. Bank, 233 Ala. 2275 171 So. 280, 288. Divide et s impers, cum radix et vertex imperil in obedientium consensu rata sunt. 4 Inst. 35. Divide and govern, since the foundation and crown of empire are established in the consent of the obedient.
