Definition of DISMISSED FOR WANT OF EQUITY

A phrase used to indicate a decision on the merits, as distinguished from one based upon some formal defect. The dismissal may be because the averments of complainant's bill have been found untrue in fact, or because they are insufficient to entitle complainant to the relief sought. Reinman v. Little Rock, 35 S.Ct. 511, 513, 237 U.S. 171, 59 L.Ed. 900.
