Definition of DESCRIPTION

A delineation or account of a particular subject by the recital of its characteristic accidents and qualities. Ayliffe, Pand. 60.

A written enumeration of items composing an estate, or of its condition, or of titles or documents; like an inventory, but with more particularity, and without involving the idea of an appraisement.

An exact written account of an article, mechanical device, or process which is the subject of an application for a patent.

A method of pointing out a particular person by referring to his relationship to some other person or his character as an officer, trustee, executor, etc.

That part of a conveyance, advertisement of sale, etc., which identifies the land or premises intended to be affected. Argyle v. Bonneville Irr. Dist., 74 Utah, 480, 280 P. 722, 727.

A fair portrayal of the chief features of the proposed law in words of plain meaning, so that it can be understood by the persons entitled to vote. Sawyer Stores v. Mitchell, 103 Mont. 148, 62 P.2d 342, 348; In re Opinion of the Justices, Mass., 9 N.E.2d 189, 192.
