What is AS IS? Definition of AS IS in Black's Law Dictionary

A sale of goods by sample "as is" requires that the goods be of the kind and quality represented, even though they be in a damaged condition. Schwartz v. Kohn, Sup., 155 N.Y.S. 547, 548. Use of expression in sales agreement that goods are sold "as is" implies that buyer is taking delivery of goods in some way defective and upon express condition that he must trust to his own examination.
