The right of a ship of war, upon the high sea, to draw near to another vessel for the purpose of ascertaining the nationality of the latter. The Marianna Flora, 11 Wheat., U.S., 43, 44, 6 L.Ed. 405. Kent understood it to be equivalent to the right of visit. 1 Kent, Comm. 153. And at present the right of approach has no existence apart from the right of visit.
