Definition of Evidence Rules
Rules which govern the admissibility of evidence at hearings and trials, e.g. Federal Rules of Evidence; Uniform Rules of Evidence; Maine Rules of Evidence. In certain states evidence rules are codified ( e.g. California Evidence Code) or otherwise set forth in statutes ( e.g.state statutes commonly govern admissibility of confidential communications).
