Definition of Exclusive License

Exclusive right granted by patent holder to licensee to use, manufacture, and sell patented article. Permission to do thing and contract not to give leave to anyone else to do same thing. Overman Cushion Tire Co. v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., C.C.A.N.Y., 59 F.2d 998, 999. A license which binds licensor not to enlarge thereafter the scope of other licenses already granted, or increase the number of licenses, is an “exclusive license”. Mechanical Ice Tray Corporation v.
