One which, by its powers, or usage, is charged with administering charitable relief. In re Beekman's Estate, 196 App.Div. 681, 188 N.Y.S. 178, 179. One organized for the purpose, among other things, of promoting the welfare of mankind at large, or of a community, or of some class from a part of it indefinite as to number of individuals.
