Cambium reale or manuals was the term generally used to denote the technical common law exchange of lands; cambium locale, mercantile, or trajectitium, was used to designate the modern mercantile contract of exchange, whereby a man agrees, in consideration of a sum of money paid him in one place, to pay a like sum in another place.
