What is BREAKDOWN SERVICE? Definition of BREAKDOWN SERVICE in Black's Law Dictionary

As applied to an electric public service corporation is primarily a service for emergency and is used in case the electric plant of the customer breaks down; it is also used when very little electricity is required, as upon holidays and Sundays, and also at the peak of the service when a maximum current is required during the day.
